Still Life of Queer Print
Size: 8x10
Lindsey Cherek Waller (they/she) is a queer, non-binary artist whose work centers pleasure, joy, and the imagination of life beyond binaries. Through portraits and still life paintings, Lindsey explores queer existence, community, and everyday moments as acts of resistance and care. Their paintings of ordinary objects function as culturescapes, capturing queer life in real time while envisioning more expansive and collective futures.
Lindsey earned their BFA from the University of Wisconsin–Stout, spent their early career in rural Minnesota, and currently lives and works in Charlotte, North Carolina. They operate a full-time art practice and have collaborated with brands including Urban Outfitters, CB2, Olympia Le-Tan, Hulu, Paramount Pictures, Garnier, and Ulta Beauty. Their work has been exhibited across the United States, including Los Angeles, New York City, Minneapolis, and at Formato Fine Arts, where Lindsey presented original paintings in a summer 2023 exhibition.
Recent exhibitions include Life Consuming at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina, In Plain Sight in Breckenridge, Colorado, and Red Dot Miami with SAB Gallery during Art Basel. Lindsey has received grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board, PFund, and Forecast Public Art, and was selected as the 2024 Landmark Mural artist for the Center of Visual Arts in Wausau, Wisconsin.
Using expressive mark-making and saturated color, Lindsey’s work invites viewers to slow down, embrace play, and consider alternative ways of living and relating. Their paintings celebrate queer joy while challenging systems that rely on isolation and rigid definitions, offering a vibrant archive of the present and a hopeful vision for what comes next.
