Every Purchase Directly Supports The Artist

Laura Abbey is the founder and head potter of Laurel Creek Pottery. An Appalachian native, she returned to Southwest Virginia after raising three children, traveling widely, and serving with the Peace Corps in Namibia. Her functional ceramics take their textures and color from the forest and the mountains around her. For Laura, clay is a way to slow down and build something shared, and the studio has grown into a working pottery community that comes together to learn, encourage one another, and make. That instinct toward service runs through the rest of her life too, in volunteer work with Community Cats Rescue Network and with WindHorse Healing Arts Center. Her work is also carried at Big Walker Mountain Lookout and Wolf Creek Indian Village.
