Mantle Sculpture
Mixed media, found materials such as Skulls, Antlers, Wood Mantle Backing, West Virginia License Plate
Evidence is a compact but forceful mantle sculpture that speaks through weight, texture, and relic. Mixed with multiple deer skulls and antlers - made to look like the Wendigo. This mounted relic sits against a rough backing, paired with a rusted West Virginia license plate. Each element feels excavated rather than assembled, as if uncovered from a site rather than made in a studio.
Powers works as both painter and materialist, allowing found objects to carry their own histories. Bone, metal, and wood are left visibly aged, scarred, and altered by time. The piece balances unease with reverence, suggesting themes of land use, memory, survival, and what is left behind in Appalachia.
Sturdy, heavy, and built to last, Evidence functions as both sculpture and artifact. It is meant to sit with you, not decorate, but quietly insist on being noticed.
