Join us for Bright Star, a bluegrass musical written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, directed by the Wytheville Opera Company at Formato Fine Arts Gallery in Wytheville, VA. Set in the historic courthouse building, this production brings the heart of Appalachia to life with a powerful story of love, loss, and redemption. Wytheville Opera Company and Formato Fine Arts proudly presents Bright Star, the acclaimed musical written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell.
Nominated for multiple Tony Awards, Bright Star is a moving and beautifully crafted story set against the rich backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the 1920s and 1940s.
Inspired by true events, this heartfelt production follows the journey of Alice Murphy, a literary editor with a mysterious past, as she crosses paths with an aspiring young writer.
Through a breathtaking bluegrass score and a story of resilience, love, and redemption, Bright Star weaves together two timelines to reveal a stunning and emotional conclusion.
Under the direction of Joe (Director), Holly Montgomery (Musical Director), and Shane Terry (Choreographer), this production will transport audiences with its authentic Appalachian setting, heartfelt storytelling, and soul-stirring music.
